Mortality is another word for death. The mortality rate measures how many people die in a defined group or population (such as a city or a country) during a specified time period. Morbidity means illness, and one person can have several comorbidities at the same time. The morbidity rate is often mathematically calculated as the mortality rate, but it measures illness rather than death.
