A medication used to treat or prevent malaria. It’s now being used off-label to treat patients with COVID-19 based on very limited data showing that it has activity against SARS-CoV-2. Experts say it shouldn’t be used outside of clinical trials because its benefit isn’t clear and it could be toxic.
